Service Technician

The Miami Valley Educational Computer Association located in Yellow Springs, Ohio has two immediate openings for service technicians: one in the Greene County region and one in the southern Montgomery County region.

MVECA Service Technician Job Objective:  Helping client organization maintain and repair workstations, printers, and various network devices. Troubleshooting workstations and network hardware and identifying parts and supplies needed to repair problems encountered by the client organization Installs and repairs network wiring. Identifies network related problems. Ensures good network performance. Installs, maintains, and configures workstation software. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience and/or technical aptitude that meets the needs of the client organization.
  • Expertise in PC and MAC applications.  Ability to train adult learners with diverse job responsibilities and computer application skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
  • Goal-oriented, career-minded.
  • Cisco certifications appreciated.

Network Specialist

The Miami Valley Educational Computer Association has an opening on our team for a qualified Network Specialist based in southern Montgomery County. We are looking for a hardworking self-starter that is dedicated to providing timely and reliable network support services.

Job Objective: Installs, maintains, configures, and supports all equipment associated with WAN and LAN deployments. Supports and maintains associated servers and applications used within established network environments.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in technology-related field or equivalent work experience.
- Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
- In-depth knowledge of computing environments.
- Ability to train and support clients.
- Energetic self-starter able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to conceptualize, evaluate, prioritize, and solve complex problems.
- Ability to develop training materials and supplemental documentation.
- Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team.
- Maintains high ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.
- Able to work in an interruption-intense environment.
- Ability to interact comfortably and confidently with the public.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
- Ability to learn new skills and perform new job functions as work environment changes.

Other Desirable Qualifications:

- Experience with Cisco IOS, network troubleshooting, mobile device management, direct end-user support, Windows servers, etc.
- Group presentation and customer training experience.
- Work experience in the information technology industry.
- Goal-oriented, career-minded.
